Our training package is delivered by a dedicated nurse with specialised training in mental health. We focus on training you to provide care for young people, offering emergency assistance and longer-term interventions. You as key staff members, will be trained to recognise and respond to a mental health crisis, ensuring the well-being your pupils and colleagues. We discuss safeguarding, information governance, escalating concerns and accessing other mental health services as part of the package. The Training lasts one half day (9:00 - 12:30pm) and is currently available by zoom. The cost of the training is £150 per person.

Content of the Training
This training package will support you to:
*Know the difference between mental health and mental ill health
*Understand the continuum of mental health
*Understand the history of mental health practice
*Have knowledge of the most up to date statistics around mental health
*Discuss the most common mental health issues in your school population
*Know your safeguarding responsibilities as a Mental Health Support Team responder
*Know how to approach a conversation with a young person
*Recognise a mental health crisis
*Know how to approach someone in crisis
*Know when someone needs to be referred on and to whom
*Know how to make decisions around management of a case
*Know your responsibilities as a MHSTR
*Practice using an Intervention Pathway

Each candidate completing the training is then qualified as a Mental Health Support Team Responder. They will receive a certificate and a lanyard.
This training counts as a CPD activity.
